INCOMING TRANSFERS

Lonely Mountain Arms is a Type 1 FFL. We do incoming firearm transfers from out of state and retail sales. Before you purchase, check with us; if we can get it for you at a better price, we will. Fee is $30.00 for the first transfer; $10 additional for each additional transfer. If there are multiple pistols on the transfer there is an additional $10 charge for the Report of Multiple Sale form. Note: there are no transfer charges if you purchase from us.

If you are purchasing a pistol or rifle that has a larger than legal capacity in Vermont, we can pin or block the magazines so that you can legally own them. We charge $10/magazine for this plus the cost of the magazine blocks (if needed).

Basic process is:

  • Make your purchase.
  • If there is an option to choose us at your time of purchase (Gunbroker, Palmetto, etc), do so and it should arrive to us with all the info we need.
  • If there is not that option, the seller should make contact with you; get their preferred method of receiving the FFL.
  • Then either call or e-mail us that info with your contact info.
  • We send the seller the FFL
  • They send us the item
  • When it arrives we notify you.
  • When you come in to pick it up you fill out Federal form 4473
  • When the approval comes through, we transfer the firearm to you.
  • NOTE THAT YOU ARE RESPOSIBLE FOR ENSURING YOUR FFL SHIPS TO OUR MAILING ADDRESS, WHICH IS TO SAY, OUR BRISTOL ADDRESS.
  • Our address is:
    Lonely Mountain Arms
    77 Grassano Dr
    Bristol VT 05443
Packages shipped to the Starksboro address need to be picked up in town, a 17 mile round trip. There will be an additional charge if I have to pick it up because the shipping FFL didn't bother to read the notation on our FFL to use the MAILING address.

Required ID's
VT residents
VT driver's license with current address. If you do not have your current address on your driver's license, a supplemental form of ID may be added: it must be government-issued, such as a hunting license or property tax bill.

Military Personnel
Mil ID and Orders to the State

Out of State persons Long guns only
Drivers License and any other ID you may need to purchase (MA residents should have an LTC, for example) and the long gun MUST BE legal in your state.

Firearms NOT picked-up within 30 DAYS of arrival are subject to a $10/day storage fee for every day after the grace period unless prior arrangements have been made. Ownership of the item transfers to Lonely Mountain Arms at 60 fee days (90 days total) OR where the fees incurred equal the value of the item.

PURCHASING A FIREARM TO BE SHIPPED TO YOUR FFL

  • E-mail us telling us what you wish to purchase.

  • I will need:
    • your name
    • address
    • phone
    • email address

  • I will also need the name and contact information for the FFL or gun shop I will be shipping this to; federal law prohibits me from shipping a firearm directly to you. I will contact your local gun shop for a copy of their Federal Firearms License or you can have them just email their license to info@lonelymountainarms.com.
  • California sales... IF the firearm is legal to ship to CA, we will. There is a $20 charge for dealing with the California Department of Justice website and getting the extra permission slip necessary to do so.
  • I will type up a quote and (it won't have the serial number of the firearm) and email you a copy; I take all major credit cards.
PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL ME YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION!!!!!
You can call me to give me your credit card information and I'll run the charge, emailing you the charge receipt and the receipt for the firearm.

  • Once I have the payment and the copy of your FFL's license, I can ship the item to your FFL. I will include a paper copy of the invoice for you and shipping paperwork, with all your contact information, to the receiving FFL. I'll forward you tracking information.

    Cancellations Returns or Refunds

Once a firearm has been transferred there are NO RETURNS OR REFUNDS.

Cancellations beyond our control: ie no FFL provided, item not legal in purchaser's state, and all other such situations that are beyond our control require a 30% restocking fee; buyer pays all shipping and insurance fees to return.

Consignment Policy

We sell a lot of firearms for our customers using the consignment program. You leave us your firearm and we’ll advertise it for you online, promote it at the shop and sell it for you. Handguns sell well year-round and long guns are more seasonal.

We’ll let you know what we think that item will sell for however you ultimately control the price.

For listing, promoting and selling your firearm we charge 20% of the selling price.

Due to the paperwork involved in processing a firearm we charge a $10 fee if you decide to take your firearm back. Federal laws require that we must do a Form 4473 and a NICS background check on a consignment RTO (Return to Owner). This small fee helps us cover these costs.

If the item doesn’t sell within 90 days we may ask that you reconsider your selling price.

Repairs

All new firearms come with a factory warranty. Please read your owner’s manual for details. Unfortunately, the manufacturers do not reimburse us for shipping, insurance, packaging time or doing the necessary paperwork on an item being sent back for repair.

Federal and State laws allow an individual to send a firearm to and receive it from a repair center.

If you bought the firearm from us we charge a flat $30 fee to pack and ship your firearm to the factory as a courtesy to our customers. This just barely covers the cost of shipping, insurance and labor. All handguns must be shipped via Next Day Air. Heavier and more expensive firearms will cost more to ship due to increased freight and insurance costs.

If you bought the firearm from another dealer the charge is $50/gun.

We will call you when your repair returns.

Please note that Federal laws allow an individual to ship a firearm to a repair center. Many manufacturers will send you a pre-paid shipping label if you ask them to (Ruger is a shining example of this!) Make sure that the return address you use is one where someone can sign for the package. You don’t want to find your firearm on your door step! Or worse... for someone ELSE to find your firearm sitting on your doorstep.

Shipping

We ship Priority Mail with the United States Post Office.

Larger or heavier rifles we may ship UPS.

Tracking numbers are available for all items shipped.

We insure each package for the total cost of whatever we're shipping.

Purchases are usually shipped the day after your FFL's license is received. NO FIREARMS ARE SHIPPED UNTIL AND UNLESS THE RECEIVING FFL'S LICENSE IS RECEIVED. We usually ship within 1-3 business days or less. Again, much of this depends on the receiving FFL.

Why can’t I pay with PayPal/Zelle/Venmo/CASHAPP?

Short (and somewhat pithy) answer: Because they all hate you and your guns.

Long answer:
The Terms of Service for ALL FOUR of the services I named prohibits using their service to purchase guns, ammunition, and most accessories.Violating their T.O.S. can be cause for them to place a hold on or shut down our account. They are not picking on just guns. None of them will let you buy hookers and blow with their service either.

Is your payment service secure?
Very secure. We use EMS, one of the largest payment processing companies in the industry.“Lonely Mountain Arms” will never store your payment method. Ever. Period. Pinky swear.

How soon do you ship?
Firearms / Receivers will usually ship within 1-3 business days or less but that depends on how quickly we receive their FFL.

Will you ship a firearm to my home?
I answered that already. No.
All firearms must, by law, ship to a licensed FFL dealer.

Why do you hate us in California?
We don’t hate you, we hate dealing with your government. The salt water has corroded their grey matter.
We will continue to ship handguns and long guns to California providing they are still on your ever shrinking list of guns you can buy. No complete AR sales to California.
We will ship AR receivers to California until it is unfeasible to do so.
Note: In light of the Bruen decision, the California approved list may well soon go the way of the dodo and the passenger pigeon. When that occurs (and when the CA DOJ paperwork requirements vanish with it), we will cheerfully ship to CA just like any other state. Good luck there behind the Iron Curtain.
