How to See Quote Tweets (2024)

Did you ever wish you could see if your or somebody else’s tweet has gone viral, or if you could see other people’s opinion on a certain tweet? Twitter can give you this insight by showing quote tweets. Alternatively, you could make your own quote tweet and add to a debate. Keep reading to see how to learn the basics of everything quote tweet related.

Finding All User’s Quoted Tweets

Here’s what you need to do to see all the quotes of a certain user’s tweets:

1. Open up your web browser and go to Twitter.
2. Find the user whose quoted tweets you’d like to see. Copy their Twitter account link. If you know the user’s link already, skip this step.
3. Paste the link in Twitter’s search bar. Now you can see all the tweets that quote any of the user’s tweets.
   

Finding a Single Tweet’s Quotes

To find quotes for individual tweets on your PC, all you need to do is to open that tweet rather than a profile. What remains is also copying the link in Twitter’s search bar. You can do this on a smartphone app in a similar fashion:

1. Open the Twitter app and find the tweet you’d like to see the quotes for.
2. Find the downward arrow inside of the tweet. It’s located in the top-right corner.
3. Tap on it, and then select “Share Tweet via…”
4. Proceed with “Copy Link to Tweet.”
5. Move on to the Search tab.
6. Paste the tweet’s link here and tap Search.

In case you’re looking for certain tweets but can’t remember who posted them, what you can do is use the Advanced Search feature. Other than this, consider using hashtags to find what you need if you can remember what the tweet was about.

Using TweetDeck

TweetDeck is an advanced Twitter client that works on computers and gives you more options than the Twitter website. Among these options is a way to see who quoted a tweet that’s integrated into TweetDeck:

1. Head to TweetDeck and log in with your Twitter credentials.
2. Locate the tweet you’d like to see quotes for.
3. On the opposite side of the heart icon, there’s an icon with three dots. Click on it.
4. Select “See who quoted this Tweet.”
5. TweetDeck will form a column with all the quotes that certain tweet received.

Quote a Tweet

If you’re wondering how you can quote someone else’s tweet, this is what you should do if you’re on your computer:

1. Go to Twitter and find the tweet you’d like to quote.
2. Hover over it so you can see the “Retweet” icon. Click on it.
3. A new window with the tweet and an “Add a comment” text box will pop up. Here’s where you can add your own comment.
4. Click on the “Tweet” button to share the tweet as a quote tweet.

The process is fairly similar on a smartphone app:

1. Open the Twitter app and find the tweet you’d like to quote.
2. Tap on the “Retweet” option.
3. Select “Quote Tweet.”
4. Type your own comment and tap on the “Tweet” button when you’re done to share a quote tweet.
   

Pinning a Tweet

You can also highlight a tweet that you like more than others by pinning it. This way, it stays on top of your timeline. To do this, click on the previously mentioned arrow in the top-right corner of the tweet and click on “Pin to your profile page.”

Tweet Sorting

By default, Twitter first shows you the tweets it thinks you will enjoy. If you don’t agree with it, you can change this so it shows you tweets in chronological order instead:

1. Locate and click on your Profile Icon.
2. Select “Settings and privacy.”
3. Proceed to “Account.”
4. Find the “Content” category and the checkbox that says “Show the best Tweets first.” Uncheck it.

Turn Off Retweets on a Profile

What you can also do is turn off a certain profile’s Retweets while viewing it if you prefer seeing just their original posts. On their page, click on the “Menu” button and select “Turn off Retweets.”
